Dealing With Headaches and Migraines

Dealing With Headaches and Migraines Davenport FL

Citrus Ridge Health Center is the first medical center to offer FDA-approved innovative treatment for different types of headaches for Davenport communities. We use an integrated headache management and treatment protocol to address every aspect of headaches, migraines and head pain.

The hallmark of our innovating treatment is the use of a proprietary nasal applicator. This medical device reduces or blocks hyper-irritation in a collection of nerve cells associated with headaches, known as sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG). In other words, we use an SPG block to stop headache pain at the nerves where they start.

Our treatment also addresses biomechanical issues that cause problems in your neck, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and upper back muscles. Dr. Scott Barnhart coordinates and supervises our customized physical therapy approach, where patients get the variety of services they need in one convenient location.

Our Headache Relief Program is a safe, non-invasive and effective way to ease the pain of headaches. Citrus Ridge Health Center is currently the only place where you can enjoy the benefits of this major medical breakthrough. Medicare and most major insurance providers cover treatment.

About Headaches and Migraines

If you suffer headaches, you are not alone. About 11 percent of people in the United States suffer the discomfort and inconvenience of headaches and migraines. Together, these headache sufferers spend about $24 billion each year on medical treatments that provide only temporary relief and pose a great risk for side effects. Each year, workers lose about 157 million days at work because of headaches. Disability and lost wages from headaches cost the nation more than $30 billion annually.

There are several types of headaches, including migraine headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, tension headaches, occipital neuralgia, cluster headaches and cervicogenic headaches. It may not always be possible for a doctor to determine the cause of your headache. Food allergies and sensitivities, substances in the environment, body posture and sleep habits play an important role in the onset and severity of symptoms.

We use nerve blocks to stop pain by administering anesthesia directly to the nerve causing the problem. An SPG block reduces the frequency and severity of pain associated with headaches for up to a month after treatment. In this procedure, doctors use a proprietary nasal applicator to administer anesthesia just behind the nose to numb the sphenopalatine ganglion.

We also administer occipital nerve blocks to reduce the frequency and severity of headaches and migraines. An occipital nerve block includes injection of a steroid or other medication around the occipital nerves located on the back of your head, just above your neck. A Botox block is a type of occipital nerve block that uses Botox, a neurotoxin that effectively treats migraines.

Currently, a handful of standard treatments bring effective relief from headaches and migraines. They include prescription and over-the-counter drugs, physical therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, biofeedback, massage, Botox injections and various nerve blocks. Unfortunately, using just one treatment fails to bring long-lasting relief for nine out of ten patients. In the right combination, however, treatment can bring lasting pain relief for most patients with even significant discomfort migraines and other types of headaches.
Our medical team provides comprehensive, effective and revolutionary new treatment for headache and migraine pain for patients living in Davenport FL.

If you suffer from any type of headaches and treatment for your pain has not been 100 percent effective, contact Citrus Ridge Health Center today to schedule an appointment with our certified physicians.
